Under the Microscope: ELF Total Face Brush
A new video in my Under the Microscope series on YouTube. This time the ELF Total Face Brush is the one being examined. I know this is a popular brush because of how affordable it is at stores such as Target, but perhaps one should be wary before putting down $1-3 for this product. The bristles are hard on my face and after filming this video I threw mine away. Just take a look at how thick and unruly the bristles are underneath the microscope. You might be surprised.

Under the Microscope
If you're a strange one like me then perhaps you've once wondered what your makeup looks like on a microscopic level. Well my curiosity got the best of me and since Jeff received a USB microscope for Christmas I decided it was time to look into that very curiosity. What does our makeup look like on a microscopic scale?
I first decided to take a look at makeup brushes to see if quality could be seen underneath the microscope. It can, but what was even more surprising (to me) was what product looks like on the brush/applicator after it's been used. I try to clean my brushes as often as I can but sometimes I get behind. After taking a closer look at what's on my foundation brush I can tell you I will be cleaning it more often.
I was so giddy and excited about this (like the nerd that I am) that I decided it would make a great feature for the blog and be an excellent way to start up my YouTube channel. The first in the series is that very foundation brush, my RealTechniques Buffing Brush that I use to apply Revlon ColorStay in Medium Beige. Care to take a look at it under the microscope?
If you have an idea of what you'd like to see under the microscope then please leave it in a comment and I'll see what I can do! If you like this type of video please let me know so I can keep making them. I have 9 more I've recorded but have yet to put together in their fancy YouTube form so if you like them, know that there are more coming!

Holiday Video: Neighborhood Lights
This neighborhood in Santa Clarita is infamous for their extensive collection of holiday lights. It's like walking/driving through a parade at Disneyland!
Enjoy!

Festive Holiday Lights
Jeff and I found this house a short distance away from our apartment complex. All of the lights are choreographed to music and the music is broadcast over a local radio station that you can listen to within proximity of the house. We sat across the street for a few minutes and watched and listened to the show. Every time a new song came on we noticed lights we hadn't seen previously, or decorations that were suddenly visible. It's clear this family has put a lot of time, money, and effort into making their home a jolly place to see. Funny enough, right after I finished recording this video the theme from "Star Wars" came on and the house lights danced along with it. It was really fun.

DIY To Try: Crayon Art
The first time I saw this on Tumblr I wanted to know how it was done. It's amazing how easy and versatile this project can be!
Take a look at the video to see how it's gone (it's really easy). Hmm, I wonder if they make neon crayons? It's been forever since I've purchased crayons.

DIY To Try: Fabric Stool
Another one of Lauren Conrad's "Crafty Creations" here. I've seen these plain wooden stools at Target and Wal Mart but I've always disliked them. They look uncomfortable, and no matter how much I wish I had stools for the one area of my counter that they would work at, I just can't use these... until now. And it seems relatively easy! Granted I don't have an industrial strength stapler, but I'm certain I could convince Jeff to get one... maybe his dad already has one? Men have things like industrial strength staplers, don't they?

DIY To Try: Cake Stand
Last Christmas I found the perfect cake stand at a shop in Solvang. It was the most perfect shade of green (like a mint jade) and so, so beautiful. But at $75 it was not affordable, and we ended up not getting it. We still think of that cake stand nearly a year later.
Since then I've been on the lookout for an equally perfect cake stand, and nothing so far has matched the level of love and adoration that that green cake stand in Solvang did. So imagine how excited I was when one of my favorite people ever, Lauren Conrad, posted a video in her "Crafty Creations" show for a DIY cake stand. Not only is this a potentially inexpensive project, but it can be super customizable.
I can't wait to give this one a try!
