Celebrating 1 Year!

I would have liked to have posted this yesterday but we were running around town all day shopping for furniture. January 1st marked the one year anniversary of Apartment 54! All this year I will be posting anniversary posts highlighting what was posted exactly one year prior (excluding Daily Inspiration posts). There should be a lot of blogging this year!

I still have so many exciting things to share and I'm really thrilled to be celebrating this special anniversary! If you've enjoyed any post or feature in particular over the past year please share it by leaving a comment below. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Apartment 54 is now on Facebook!

Since the 1-year anniversary of Apartment 54 is fast approaching I decided to branch out a bit and create a Facebook page just for the blog. Starting in the new year all of the Daily Inspirations will be posted solely on Facebook, so that's just one of many reasons to check it out and Like it today. I also try to update as much as I can with little posts and notes that don't really require a full post here on the blog.

Just A Touch-up & Some New Features!

Same cute theme, slightly different layout. And I like it much much better. You may notice there are some tabs up top ^ and some new features! Beauty Must Haves is my selection of products I cannot live without. Stuff like lotion, lip balm, and wipes for my glasses (so I can see clearly). Beauty Wishlist is the same idea but products that I've tried and fallen in like/lust/love with and want to purchase in the near future.

There is also quick access to my Pinterest, which is just over flowing with hundreds of pins I've obsessively collected and saved to my Macbook. No, seriously. It's a problem.

I've got a whole list of new features/ideas/posts that I have in the works, so be sure to keep coming back to look for them!

Is Blogger Broken?

Late night/early morning edit: I was able to finesse my away around the issue and set the site to the holiday layout. Doesn't it look pretty? A few layout things were tweaked and I'm going to be making a few more changes over the next few days until it looks perfect. But yay for fixing the problem!

About a week ago or so I started putting together the fixings for a holiday layout, and was crestfallen to learn that my blog is one of many afflicted with some particular error that makes it impossible for bloggers to update their theme/layout. I can't change so much as a font face and it is very annoying.

So I started thinking about workarounds and one thing that came to mind is moving Apartment 54 all together to a domain name and maybe using Wordpress. I even browsed through a few dozen themes last night. It might be a great birthday gift for when the site turns 1 in January, and it might help with a lot of other back-end things on my side. I'm not sure what I will do yet but it is something I am considering. I even went through a few older posts and saw that some photos are missing because they were uploaded to a site that no long exists. Which is a bummer.

I don't know. If anyone has an opinion or idea please feel free to leave it as a comment below. In the meantime I'll check to see if the layout can be updated or if I'm just screwed for now. This layout is lovely but so is the one I had in mind.

A Few Changes

Since starting Apartment 54 almost a year ago I've absolutely fallen in love with blogging about home and home life. It is difficult to commit to the blog on a daily basis because of my academic pursuits, but I am as committed to this blog as I was on day one and I want to expand the scope of the blog to include more content that I can easily write about and include.

Having a lovely home isn't just about having the right couch or the perfect curtains, it's also about  creating a space that expresses your taste and style and makes you feel comfortable and yes, even beautiful. With beauty in mind, I'm going to be incorporating some more of it in Apartment 54, as well as a few other elements that are a bit tangential, but still very important to home.

And of course, Daily Inspiration will continue every day, with special weekly inspiration posts highlighting my favorite DIY projects and beauty guru videos from YouTube.

I'm looking forward to branching about  a bit and making Apartment 54 reflective of not just my home, but me.

Freshen Up!

I thought a fresh new layout would be a nice way to give the site a lift. Background and color palette were made by me at ColourLovers. The background is Kabloom and the color palette is Place setting.

Silly me, I made made a screenshot of the former layout but accidentally copied over it. I'm sure it will make a reappearance at a future point in time!
